How Much Should You Invest in Your Own Coach? Here’s My Rule of Thumb…

Reece Turner

What is your #1 priority right now?

Got it? I’d like you to answer one more question…

How much of your income are you investing in that area?

A nice rule of thumb which has helped me over the years, is to…

Invest according to your priorities. If the most important thing to you is growth, make sure that’s what you spend your budget on.

For most of my adult life, I’ve invested more money on coaching than I have on rent, a fact which I am super proud of.

You might be wondering… is it really necessary to invest heavily in a coach?

No.

Depending on your learning preferences and tolerance for uncomfortable conversations, you might find coaching isn’t effective for you. There may be other methods that achieve the same (or better) results.

But for me, coaching has been life changing.

I would say that 80% of the value I get from being coached each year, comes from a particular breakthrough in a single session. Coaches usually have a way of helping me see things that weren’t on my radar, but once I see it, it can set me off on a completely new chapter in life.

Now it’s your turn…

Think about your monthly/yearly spending and consider if you are investing your money according to your priorities.

An obvious disclaimer here is that having a roof over your head is super important, and I don’t want you to become homeless in your pursuit of having a coach.

If you aren’t ready to hire a professional coach just yet, a nice middle ground is to invest in one-off coaching sessions four times a year. This means you can benefit from a clear, non-judgemental and open conversation once every quarter at least.

Good luck on your journey.
